The first little lamb | Manvel, Texas Livestock Photographer

The Dorper sheep are the new kids on the block around here. They are a strange-looking sheep compared to the other breeds.

The first baby lamb arrived and I was able to get the first pictures of the year. He was about two days old when I took these pictures. The mama sheep is the brown and white one.

These sheep are located next door to our house. I went across the backyard in rubber boots because the ground is very muddy and you sink as you walk.. As soon as the flock of sheep saw me they surrounded the baby trying to protect him. It was the sweetest thing I have ever seen.

There are quite a few different breeds of sheep that are our neighbors so there will be more little lamb pictures soon.

  1. As you mentioned in your last response – their colourings’ are so much like those of cattle. I have never seen these sheep before. In NZ you’re either a Romney or a Merino – it’s very Shakespearean! Thanks for sharing.
