The sun rose on Sunday morning around 6:55 a.m we arrived at Brazos Bend State Park around 7:30 a.m. The very first stop was 40-acre lake which is the first lake you come to as you enter the park.
The morning sun was so bright in front of this Great Egret. There he stood with his S-shaped head and neck sitting on the railing of the fishing pier. Even though the shooting conditions at that moment were by far not my favorite I could not resist taking a few pictures.
These birds have a huge wing span and are quite elegant when they fly.
I would have much rather been there 30 minutes sooner than shoot into the sun like this, but I am glad I was able to capture pictures of this beautiful bird.
