The sounds of the Cicada | Manvel, Texas Photographer

In the summertime late in the evening you can hear the sounds of the Cicadas               (/sɪˈkɑːdə/ or /sɪˈkdə/) . They say they are calling for it to rain, but it is the males who make this noise. The noise is quite unique and loud sometimes.

There are about 2500 species of the Cicadas and they are insects. Recently in the backyard I found this dead Cicada and I decided to photograph it. I really have no idea what happened to it, but they are quite a beautiful insect.

The Nymphs shed their shells. Most of the time small children are scared of the shells I have no idea why they are just a shell. you can find the shells on a tree trunk, on brick on a leaf they can be just about anywhere.

Listen for the Cicadas and see if you can hear them in your yard right about dusk.
