The River And It’s Bones | Sonya Lira Photography

The Texas Hill country is a favorite place for many Texans and for those visiting our great state.

These pictures are of the Frio river and river bank in Leakey,Texas. This is a great place to go tubing in the summertime as long as we have had plenty of rain. The water temperatures average about 71 degrees but it sure seems cold when getting in it. I think a lot of that has to do with the outside temperatures being in the upper 90’s.

I like these pictures because the Cypress tree roots look like bones coming up out of the ground. Now that would be really kind of creepy if you think about it. These are simply tree roots trying to find some place to go.

Nature offers us such beauty sometimes we simply need to stop and capture it.

  1. I like the hill country. I think I mentioned that I stayed there for nearly a year, recuperating from the double mastectomy. Coming from New Mexico, I was amazed by all the green. Cypress trees are here in Florida, too. I love the way they look. Your photos are great. Lucy
